Who We Are

Our Story

For generations, Baker County High School Drama and Baker County Community Theatre have shared a common mission: to inspire creativity, educate performers, and bring quality live theatre to Baker County. Together, these programs have provided countless opportunities for students and community members to discover the performing arts, develop lifelong friendships, and create memorable experiences both on and off the stage.

What began as separate programs has grown into a longstanding partnership that continues to strengthen the local arts community. From school productions and community plays to musicals, storytelling events, and Radio Theatre performances, our stage has welcomed performers of all ages and backgrounds.

Whether you're taking your first bow or returning to the stage after many years, you'll find a place in our theatre family.

Founded more than 40 years ago, the Baker County High School Drama Department has introduced generations of students to the world of theatre. Early productions included Oliver!, Dracula, and Tom Sawyer, setting the stage for decades of artistic excellence.

The program has earned recognition well beyond Baker County. BCHS Drama is one of the few high school theatre programs invited to perform and participate in collegiate theatre festivals at the University of North Carolina, Louisiana State University, the University of North Texas, and the prestigious Petit Jean Performance Festival in Arkansas. Faculty and students have also presented educational sessions at the Eastern Theatre Conference, Southeastern Theatre Conference, and the National Communication Association in Chicago.

Today, BCHS Drama continues to provide students with opportunities to perform, create, collaborate, and develop skills that extend far beyond the stage.

Partnership

 One Stage. Two Traditions

Although each organization has its own history, BCHS Drama and Baker County Community Theatre frequently collaborate on productions, educational programs, and special events. Together they present performances that bring students, alumni, experienced actors, and first-time performers together on the same stage.

This partnership ensures that theatre remains a vibrant part of life in Baker County while providing opportunities for every generation to experience the performing arts.
